/ THE BELONGING PROJECT

My LIBR 506 Human-Information Interaction project group and I created an intergenerational program and product that met information needs of adolescents and seniors. Part of the project is creating a digital archive of belongings that are of value to these user groups and the stories behind them. The digital archive is an integrated system. Understanding the foundations of resource description and knowledge organization was integral to developing a viable product that met user needs. It helped us think through what information we needed to collect; how it should be labelled, organized, and presented; how it can be searched; and how long and how many resources it would take to create this product.
